Variety is reporting that a second trilogy of films in the Transporter series is in development. EuropaCorp and Fundamental Films are set to co-produce three more installments of the film franchise.
The fourth, fifth and six films will be budgeted in the $30-40 million range each. One of the three installments will likely lense in China where Fundamental is based.
EuropaCorp CEO Christophe Lambert says Fox will have a first-look and Lionsgate a second-look on the three films.
The first Transporter film was released in October of 2002 and grossed over $43 million worldwide. That film was followed by Transporter 2 which was released in September of 2005 and grossed over $85 million in worldwide box office. Transporter 3 followed in November of 2008 and grossed a franchise high of over $108 million in worldwide box office.
