Another Transporter Trilogy In Development

The Transporter - Theatrical Poster - Courtesy of 20th Century FoxVariety is reporting that a second trilogy of films in the Transporter series is in development. EuropaCorp and Fundamental Films are set to co-produce three more installments of the film franchise.

The fourth, fifth and six films will be budgeted in the $30-40 million range each. One of the three installments will likely lense in China where Fundamental is based.

EuropaCorp CEO Christophe Lambert says Fox will have a first-look and Lionsgate a second-look on the three films.

No word as yet if Jason Statham will reprise his role as Frank Martin in the projects. No director is yet attached for the fourth film. Luc Besson and Mark Gao will produce.

The first Transporter film was released in October of 2002 and grossed over $43 million worldwide. That film was followed by Transporter 2 which was released in September of 2005 and grossed over $85 million in worldwide box office. Transporter 3 followed in November of 2008 and grossed a franchise high of over $108 million in worldwide box office.
