‘Cahill: United States Marshal’ Movie Summary
J.D. Cahill (John Wayne himself) is a widowed U.S. Marshall who is good at his job. He is away from home for long stretches of time and his sons feel neglected. His older son Danny seeks his Father’s attention by a robbing a bank with group of murderous thugs led by Fraser (George Kennedy). Cahill’s younger son Billy Joe “Budger” is forced into the plot as well. The town Sheriff is killed during the robbery.
Billy Joe does not follow Fraser’s instructions and refuses to hide the money where he was told. Fraser threatens to kill him. Meanwhile another group of outlaws are tried and prepped to be hung for the Sheriff’s murder.
J.D. knows his sons well enough to know something is amiss and he recruits a half Comanche tracker named Lightfoot to help him rescue his boys. Things get hairy but eventually all of the bank robbery money is recovered and the boys reconcile with their Father who promises to be home more if they don’t rob any more banks.
