Hayley Atwell Will Cameo In Captain America: The Winter Solider

Collider is reporting that Hayley Atwell is set to make a cameo in Captain America: The Winter Soldier despite reports weeks ago that she would not be appearing in film.

“I know that Hayley is going back to do a flashback scene,” Stanley Tucci told the site, “but I have not been asked.”  Tucci appeared in the first film, Captain America: The First Avenger, as Dr. Abraham Erskine, the doctor who creates the super solider serum that give Captain America is abilities.

Atwell played the romantic lead, Peggy Carter, in the first film. Last week it was announced that Emily VanCamp had won the role of the female lead in the sequel. VanCamp beats out a number of actresses who were announced last fall as making the short list for the role, including Jessica Brown FindlayEmilia ClarkeTeresa PalmerImogen Poots, and Alison Brie.VanCamp was not one of the names mentioned on that list.

VanCamp is best known for her role on ABC television’s Revenge. Which character she would be playing in Captain America is unknown at this time; however, many are speculating that she will play Sharon Carter, the niece of Peggy Carter, played by Atwell in the first film.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier will star Chris Evans, reprising his role as Steve Rogers/Captain AmericaAnthony Mackie in the role of the Falcon, and Frank Grillo as Crossbones. Rumored to be reprising their roles from Marvel’s The Avengers are Samuel L. Jackson as Nick FuryScarlett Johansson as Black Widow, and Cobie Smulders as Maria HillSebastian Stan and Toby Jones are reprising their roles of James ‘Bucky’ Barnes and Arnim Zola from the first Captain America film. Stan’s character appeared to have been killed in the first film, but the character of ‘Bucky’ Barnes returns in the comic books as The Winter Soldier. Set to be directed by Anthony and Joe RussoCaptain America: The Winter Soldier will hit theaters on April 4, 2014.
