20th Century Fox has released a new viral video for the upcoming film Prometheus. The film is directed by Ridley Scott and is a prequel to Alien, a film that Scott directed in 1979. The film stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Logan Marshall-Green and Patrick Wilson. The viral video focuses on Fassbender’s character, who is an android by the name of David.
The sci-fi thriller takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery. The film is prequel to Scott’s 1979 classic science fiction film Alien. Scott has repeatedly stated that although this is prequel to Alien, that it is not an Alien film. Of the film’s Alien connection he said that “the DNA” of Alien is there but “everything else is original”. Scott says “in the last few minutes of the movie you’ll understand what we’re talking about.” He went onto say “I never thought about science fiction until I started to realise that there was something in the first Alien that no one ever asked questions about. I thought, well, that could be the centrepiece of what we’ve just completed.”
