Disney has been teasing fans for months that a 25th Anniversary edition of Who Framed Roger Rabbit would be coming in 2013. Now, in an early announcement to retailers, Disney has revealed that it will release the film onto Blu-ray on March 12, 2013.
Who Framed Roger Rabbit is the story of ‘Toon star Roger Rabbit (Charles Fleischer), who is worried that his wife Jessica (Kathleen Turner) is playing “pattycake” with someone else. So, the studio hires detective Eddie Valiant (Bob Hoskins) to snoop on her. But the stakes are quickly raised when Marvin Acme is found dead and Roger is the prime suspect. The film was made famous due to its groundbreaking interaction between the live and animated characters, and lots of references to classic animation.
Who Framed Roger Rabbit was released in June 1988 and grossed over $156 million at the box office. The film was directed by Robert Zemeckis, who was fresh from his success of the first Back To The Future film.
Exact technical specs, region coding status, and supplemental features to be included on the film are yet to be revealed.
