Django Unchained (2012) To Hit Blu-ray Shelves This April

Starz and Anchor Bay have announced that they are bringing Django Unchained to Blu-ray this April. The film is written and directed by Academy Award winner Quentin Tarantino and stars Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, and Walton Goggins.  Django Unchained will be available everywhere beginning on April 16, 2013.

In the film, a former dentist and current bounty hunter, Dr. King Schultz (Waltz), buys the freedom of a slave, Django (Foxx), and trains him with the intent to make him his deputy bounty hunter.  They have a series of profitable adventures, but eventually they make an arrangement to find and free Django’s wife (Washington), who is the hands of Calvin Candie (DiCaprio), a ruthless plantation owner.

Django Unchained was released in December of 2012 and has grossed over $310 million in worldwide box office to date.  The film has been nominated for five Academy Awards at this year’s ceremony, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (Waltz), and Best Original Screenplay (Tarantino).

Exact technical specs and supplemental features to be included with this upcoming release are yet to be officially detailed.
