Futureworld (1976) Brings it’s Robotic Amusement to Blu-ray

Shout! Factory has announced that they are planning to bring to Blu-ray Richard T. Heffron‘s Futureworld. The film starred Peter Fonda, Blythe Danner, Arthur Hill, and Yul Brynner.  The film will street on March 26, 2013.

Film Summary

Two reporters, Tracy (Danner) and Chuck (Fonda), get a message from a third reporter who discovered something about “Futureworld” and gets killed before he could tell anyone about it.  Tracy and Chuck visit Futureworld, an amusement park of the future that caters to any adult fantasy, to find out what he knew.  There, they encounter lifelike androids who carry out your every whim.  However, “Futureworld” has a deadly secret.

Futureworld is a sequel to 1973’s Westworld, which also starred Brynner.  The film was released in July 1976, and was considered a box office flop.  Brynner, who was the main actor in the first film, only appeared briefly in a dream sequence.  None of the other stars, nor the director Michael Crichton, returned for the sequel.
