Transformers (2007)The story kicks off with the discovery of an ancient artifact, the AllSpark, which holds the key to the power and survival of the Transformers. The Autobots, led by the noble Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen), seek to protect humanity and prevent the Decepticons, led by the ruthless Megatron (Hugo Weaving), from obtaining the AllSpark and using it to conquer the universe. The AllSpark and Megatron are sent to Earth and crash in the Arctic Circle. Both are frozen in the ice and discovered by Captain Archibald Witwicky (W. Morgan Sheppard) and his crew in 1897. Captain Witwicky accidentally activates Megatron’s navigational system, causing his eyeglasses to be imprinted with the coordinates of the AllSpark’s location.

Decades later, the rest of Decepticons begin appearing around the Earth looking for the AllSpark. Blackout and Scorponok attack a military base in Qatar and try to hack into the United States military network to find the location of Megatron and the AllSpark. U.S. military personnel sever the network connection before the robots can accomplish their objective. Another Decepticon, Frenzy (Reno Wilson), infiltrates Air Force One and plants a computer virus. Frenzy learns that the map imprinted on Captain Witwicky’s glasses is now in the possession of one of his ancestors.

Caught in the middle of this intergalactic conflict is teenager Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf), who now possesses the glasses. Sam unwittingly becomes entangled in the Transformers’ war when he purchases a beat-up Camaro that turns out to be the Autobot scout Bumblebee (Mark Ryan). As Sam delves deeper into the mystery surrounding the Transformers, he teams up with the beautiful and brilliant Mikaela Banes (Megan Fox) and a team of military operatives led by Captain William Lennox (Josh Duhamel).

After Bumblebee learns that Sam has the glasses, he sends out a beacon to summon other Autobot reinforcements, including Optimus Prime. Sam, Mikaela, and the Autobots return to Sam’s home and obtain the glasses. Soon, agents from a secret government agency, Sector 7, arrive to arrest Sam and Mikaela, and they capture Bumblebee. The group is taken to the Hoover Dam where Sector 7 has secretly stored the AllSpark and Megatron, using the structure of the dam to hide Megatron’s energy signature. Frenzy disguises himself as a mobile phone and accompanies the heroes to the secret base. Once there, Frenzy frees Megatron and contacts the other Decepticons.

As the Decepticons close in, Sam convinces Sector 7 to release Bumblebee so he can take the AllSpark to Optimus Prime. As the battle between the Autobots and Decepticons escalates, the fate of Earth hangs in the balance. The Decepticons, led by Megatron, are determined to locate the AllSpark and use its power to transform Earth’s technology into a weapon of mass destruction. Meanwhile, the Autobots, aided by Sam and his allies, race against time to prevent this catastrophic outcome. Bumblebee gets the AllSpark to Optimus Prime in Mission City, Nevada. Sam and Optimus fight Megatron. Optimus informs Sam that if they begin to lose and Megatron is close to capturing the AllSpark, that Sam must shove the AllSpark into his chest which will destroy both Optimus and the AllSpark. As Optimus nears defeat, Sam disregards Optimus’ wishes and shoves the AllSpark into Megatron’s chest instead. The AllSpark is destroyed and Megatron is defeated.

In the end, the Autobots emerge victorious. Optimus takes a fragment of the AllSpark from Megatron’s corpse but realizes that with its destruction, their home world Cybertron cannot be restored. The government decommissions Sector 7 and dumps the corpses of the defeated Decepticons into the Laurentian Abyss. Other Decepticons remain alive and free. Sam and Mikaela finally begin a relationship, and Optimus sends a signal to other surviving Autobots directing them to Earth, indicating that other sequels are soon to follow.
